SPE – UTM Student Chapter has proudly organised an event known as Charity Month 2013. This charity campaign been held within a month, start from 20th of April until 19th of May 2013. There were five sub events for the purpose of this charity which are :
- SPE Car Wash Day
- SPE Enriching The Earth
- SPE Run for Charity
- Orphanage Home Visit
- Old Folks Home Visit
The objective of this program with the theme ‘We love to live, We live to give’ is to collect the donation to be channeled to an old folks home, Rumah Orang Tua Nur Ehsan and an orphanage home, Rumah Barkat in Johor Bharu.
SPE Run for Charity was organised on 4th of May 2013 at L50 UTM with the sincere objective of raising funds for donations to several charity organisations around Johor Bahru which are Rumah Orang Tua Nur Ehsan and Rumah Barkat. The committees got a lot of support from participants from UTM students who participated in this event. There are more than 200 UTM student that participated in this event. Thus, we would like to express and convey our highest gratitude and appreciation to all participants because of their support in this event. We also would like to congratulate to all the winner in SPE-UTM Run for Charity 2013.
On the 27th of April 2013, the Charity Month 2013 have been doing an environmental themed program with the slogan “Enriching the Earth” . This program involves collaboration with Tanjung Piai National Park where the participants did mangrove planting activity at mangrove swamps in Tanjung Piai national park. In addition, they did cleanup activities at the mangrove swamps. We hope, with this program, it achieved its objective to preserve the mother nature.
We went to Rumah Barkat on 11th of May 2013. On that day, we did some mural decor arts from the charity month 2013 committees together with charitable volunteers . Other than that, we also delivered the donations by placing a ‘Mini Library’ there and not to forget we also celebrated birthdays with the kids. We delivered the donations from outsider to be given to excellent students who managed to score good results in their examinations as this would motivate them in the future.
On the 19th of May 2013, the charity month 2013 delegates went to the Old Folks Home and the day was named as ‘ Sharing The Moments Together’ since they shared a lot of stories behind their sadness to us. We cheered them with laughs, games, and sang with them. An approximation of RM 2200.00 was handed to the Old Folks home in the form of goods that we bought using the donation money. Last but not least, the lesson that we never forget was, do not ever leave your parent!
