12th February 2013 till 15th February 2013, Society of Petroleum Engineers Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (SPE-UTM SC) had sent 9 representatives to participate in Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade 2013 (OGIP 2013) which was held in UPN “Veteran” Yogyakarta, Indonesia.
SPE-UTM SC representatives were Mr. Abang Mohd Faiz, Mr. Yap Szeyong, Mr. Hussein Anwar, Mr. Jesten Nigeil, Mr. Muhamad Redzuan, Mr. Mohamad Syahid, Mr. Muhamad Zulfadzly, Mr. Abdul Mu’min and Mr. Ahmad Affendi.
PETRONOVOO became the pioneer of this intellectual parade that has been held in 2010. Then, that event had been change into Oil and Gas Intellectual Parade (OGIP) since 2011. This year, OGIP 2013 was held with the theme “Energy Sustainability For National Glory”. This beneficial gathering and networking event which was participated by various university namely Universiti Gajah Mada (UGM), Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Universitas Diponogero Semarang (UDS), Universiti Indonesia (UI), Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB), Universiti Sains &Teknologi Bandung (USTB) and others.
OGIP 2013 was officiated by Mr. Bambang P Istadi, SPE Director, Java Indonesia Region.
This event aimed to strengthen the bonds between SPE Student Chapters around Asia Pacific and it managed to be the platform for the participants to exchange ideas to improve every aspect for respective SPE Student Chapters. Besides that, OGIP 2013 gave the opportunity to all participants to widen the corporate networking with each other, industrial practitioners as well as VIPs who came from Oil & Gas Industry.
OGIP 2013 comprised of Smart Competition, Paper Presentation, Plan of Development (POD), SPE Student Chapter gathering, Trips around Yogyakarta and many more social activities. One of our representatives, Mr. Yap Szeyong successfully presented his paper entitled “The performance of xanthan gum and glass beads in foam drilling fluid”. Instead of that, SPE-SC UTM also sent two teams for Smart Competition that were represented by Mr. Abang Mohd Faiz, Mr. Jesten Nigeil and Mr. Hussien Anwar as one team and Mr. Zulfadzly, Mr. Muhamad Redzuan, and Mr. Mohamad Syahid.
All in all, OGIP 2013 managed to achieve the goals of the competition held and SPE-UTM SC will continue to support and participate in this event in 2014.
