ABOUT CRITICAL MASS

Critical Mass is a non-profit advocacy that formed by a group of volunteered Malaysians with the objective of advocating the nuclear energy’s commercialization into the national energy mix by addressing the stigmatic public perception of the nation’s stakeholders toward nuclear power commercialization in Malaysia.

In the past, critical mass has launched a few events in Malaysia, such as Stand Up For Nuclear, a global event that brings the actual facts about nuclear energy to the public in order to dispel public misconceptions about nuclear energy. Aside from the actual event, critical mass also held a few live chat sessions on Facebook that last 1 month to spread out the nuclear knowledge to people all over the world.

ABOUT NUCLEAR STIGMA

Nuclear Stigma 2023 Session I: The Story Of Uranium Fuel” is the first session of a webinar series organized by the Nuclear Engineering Student Society (NESS) focused on raising public awareness about the feasibility of nuclear energy in Malaysia. In the pursuit of curbing global warming, nuclear energy stands as one of the ‘green’ energy sources that can play a crucial transitional role for Malaysia to achieve carbon emission neutrality.

NESS collaborated with Critical Mass, a local nuclear advocacy group, on all of the sessions in an effort to gradually establish the public narrative trend required to propel Malaysia’s nuclear agenda towards commercialization by engaging a diverse range of stakeholders, including students and the general public.

This webinar is anticipated to be attended by every student in UTM’s nuclear engineering program (SETN), and it is also open to students and lecturers from any other faculty, as well as the general public.

Honorary Speaker

Dr. Arzudi Mustapha

A leader who is leading Critical Mass to advocate nuclear energy to Malaysians. He is also the founder of Clean Energy Xpedition Sdn. Bhd., which is attempting to finish the design of a 300Mev continuous electrical output Small Modular Reactor (SMR).
Dr. Arzudi, on the other hand, received his PhD in Nuclear Engineering from Imperial College London, a public university in London, England.
Prior to obtaining his PhD in nuclear engineering, he worked as a senior engineer for Tenaga National Berhad and TNB Nuclear Energy Unit from 2001 until 2011.
