MUAR, 25th October 2019 – The Institution of Engineers, Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Student Section organized an industrial visit on 25th October 2019 (Friday) to Micron Semiconductor Sdn. Bhd.at Muar, Johor. This event was conducted for UTM engineering students to get insight on engineering environment.
This industrial visit exposed the participants on real life working environment and how the knowledge the students learn in the university would apply in real life. The exposure from the event would provide the participants useful information and knowledge related to their respective engineering field. Furthermore, participants would be able to build network with the company whilst learning new knowledge from the visit.
There were 37 participants from Faculty of Engineering, UTM, which majority were from electrical, electronic and mechanical engineering background. The event was started at 6.15am with registration process and departed at 6.30am from UTM, Skudai to Micron Semicomductor Sdn. Bhd. at Muar. The bus arrived at 8.30am. After the person in charge, Mr Issac Chua, giving a brief introduction, Mr Steven Yong, the site manager, presented the development of the company to the participants. When touring around the factory, Mr Mun Seng, the senior engineer, shared some experiences being an engineer. Next, Ms Lydia, the Human Resource Department Manager, also shared some useful interview tips and working attitudes to all participants. The industrial visit ended at 1.00pm. All participants gave a positive feedback to the company and organizer.
