A group of UTM Green DNA students and Staff visited Shanghai for a week’s of iSSRR program~ International Seminar of Sustainability and Resources Recycling, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU). The programs include UTM Green DNA and SJTU Students team presentation on a range of resources recycling topics (organic and e-wastes) and a range of site visits to aquaponics and advanced farming lab in SJTU, Shanghai Engineering Research Center of Low-carbon Agriculture in SAAS (Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences), Wenxin Biotech Co. Ltd (200t/d Industrial Composting facility), CN-NL Waste Solution (Waste Transfer Station).
The 1st International Seminar on Sustainability & Resources Recycling (iSSRR) is initiated by UTM Green DNA (gDNA), a student society in UTM aiming to promote sustainable development for all stakes holders. gDNA conducted various green activities inside and outside UTM by collaborating with other organisation to promote sustainability practices in the communities. The society is especially passionate to promote holistic resources recycling towards achieving zero-waste and low-carbon societies.
gDNA is thankful to Shanghai Jiao Tong University for hosting the 1st iSSRR. The goals for iSSRR are:
i) To groom young graduates as global leaders to promote sustainability activities through cross-cultural communication & interactions
ii) To enhance joint research activities, student co-supervision and joint publication among the participants.
iii) To study the cross-nation economic activities in promoting green technology among the fast developing countries in Asia.
The successions of this program will encourage delegates to apply knowledge they learn and help create environmental awareness for the society towards a green lifestyle and sustainable development.
This program also aims to promote and strengthen regional knowledge sharing and capacity building, for the academics and the policy-makers or drivers such as the local authorities and entrepreneur to promote bio-economy and generate more jobs.
